The exhibit will be closed to the public while judging is in progress.
Connecticut rules governing exhibitions of live poultry will be enforced.
Only birds of eight weeks and older.
Poultry originating within the state must come from healthy flocks with no evidence of contagious or infectious disease. All cages and crates must be cleaned and disinfected after each show. Poultry vaccinated within 30 days with a live virus vaccine will be prohibited from showing. Out of state poultry must test negative for pullorum within 12 months prior to their first show date and be accompanied by such certification. In addition, all poultry must comply with the Department of Agricultural Avian Influenza requirements by originating from A-1 Free flocks or be tested by A-I within 30 days of entry and have certification of such. No poultry from areas of any state having Avian Influenza may enter Connecticut. All birds must be tested and tagged in order to be entered. For the safety and health of all entrants, the Superintendent will refuse birds deemed sick, infected, or abnormal entry.
The Fair Committee will supply feed and water.
All exhibits must be caged by 8:00 PM on Friday. The Superintendent will be at the poultry department on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM to accept birds.
Poultry will be entered in their classes. Standard Breed or Bantam Class, Waterfowl and other birds: Ducks, Geese, Turkeys and Pigeons (pair) Standard Breed Class and Bantam Class will be judged by the Standard of Perfection. Each entrant must note on application blank the class that the birds are to be entered in.
Entries close – October 1, 2009
Entry fee of $.50 per bird must be mailed with the entry form. Entries for single specimens only.
